October Thirty-First
book
A collection of archived Halloween photos, plus stupid conversation from the funniest people you ever did read.
Halloween is strange and odd - this tradition we have. I think it says a lot about humans.
I wanted to unravel the stories behind the photos, but through fictionalisation and guesswork. The reading experience should feel like you're flicking through a photo album, sitting in on a conversation. It's casual, and the reader can take away their own impressions or observations. Sometimes, if relevant, I then erase these fictional stories by stating the facts and answering unknowns. I think providing facts heightened the stories instead of erasing them - extending our knowledge to gain a better awareness of something, but there still being so much we don't know about. I'm presenting a group of photos with little to no context, other than the fact they were all taken on October Thirty-First. We can only fill in the blanks from our understanding of what that day implies.
